Found this little gem at a new grocery store that opened up nearby.
First bottle from my hand-picked Holiday mix’n’match six pack. New Belgium’s Snow Day Winter Ale. This one had a nice hops punch up front with some heavy spice notes that reminded me a bit of a Cane & Ebel without the rye aspect. Definitely adding this one to my preferred list.
Crisp and light like the white variety with some nice cherry and rose flavors and scents. Don’t think this one works quite as well partially because it tastes a bit like a weak cherry coke or fruit punch. It’s probably a bit unfair to contrast the two, but it’s hard to avoid the comparison.
Just open the bottle. The verdict? This is some good stuff man, very tasty.
Heard about this stuff through an interview with Andrew Zimmern. It’s fermented soda that is made almost like wine, but without the alcohol. Suppose to pair up really nicely with food and in addition to the fact that there’s no sugar added to it, the sugar content from the fruit is about a quarter the amount in a regular can of Coke.
The elusive Magners Pear Cider. Lucy and I first had this at The Atlantic a little over a year ago and I finally spotted it at Binny’s this past Friday.
Beer No. 5 from World Market Mix’n’Match: Two Brothers - North-Wind Imperial Stout. Generally imperial stouts are a little too heavy for me, but this one was very smooth without being thin and boring like I find Guinness to be. Nice notes of coffee and malt.
Great Summer Brew.
Beer No. 4 from World Market Mix’n’Match: Pyramid - Apricot Ale. Great nose and a really nice fruity followthrough. The wife and I are now fans of this one.
